Colorism is a big issue in Asia, and it has seeped into the very core perception of Vietnamese people. However, a certain celebration of dark skin tones is taking place in Vietnam's popular culture, mainly by young generations. With a vibrant local skin whitening products market, this is really interesting to witness and has led me to look for the possible reasons for the shift in skin tones embracement. In the end, I found that globalization plays a key role in this change of heart, as well as brings forward certain challenges along the way. It was really fun to explore this issue because I'm so excited about the new view of Vietnamese youngsters in recognizing and fighting against social biases. This is the final production of our group for our Asian Cinema class. Before making the video, I have only watched The Handmaiden and I was thoroughly impressed and in awe. I really admire his works and I love the dedication and efforts he put into each of his films. They're really well-done and show his admirable passion for cinema. We chose PCW films because of their amazing quality and his attention to every detail, which makes them visually stunning and packed with meaning in every frame, perfect for analyzing and understanding visual cues in films. There will be plot spoilers so be careful if you want to watch the films beforehand. I personally really love The Handmaiden despite the male gaze element in it, but there are some videos discussing it and I guess some of them make sense to me. I'll put the links to the videos about his work in the comments because this description already looks like a mini essay lol. If you love films with high production value you would be very happy watching his films. Ok enjoy ^^.

This video was made around January 2020, when the scandal around AirVisual's data of Ha Noi 's atmosphere created quite a stir in Vietnamese society. This incident is really useful to be used as a case study in understanding fake news and how it progresses, especially in Vietnam, where the digital use and community spirit are extremely high. Along with my teammates, I attempt to give some insight into the development of the Vietnamese language, my mother-tongue. We hope that after this video, appropriate understanding and treatment of our language will follow.

This is the result of my visits to the famous Thien Hau Pagoda, which is near where I live and the place I frequently pray to. In this video, I look into the modern context of today's world and where this religious site fits among that.
